KOREAN WAR
75,000 North Korean soldiers invaded South Korea, which was backed by the Soviets - causing them to get involved - thus the U.S. entered on South Korea's side. After a stretched out disagreement and battle against communism, the fighting and casualties stalled. But in July of 1953 the war came to an end and the Korean peninsula was and still is divided.
